IPL: Day 1 – Mentorship Lab
I just completed day 1 of the Interactive Project Lab (IPL) workshop/mentorship sessions in Banff, Alberta. Working out of the office is always nice for a change but being in Banff is even better!
I’m attending the workshops with Jennifer Wemigwans from Invert Media Inc. who are busy launching Four Directions Teachings.com
Tonight we had the experience of giving a 5 minute pitch on our Breach of Contract project, a serious game that unhinges Canada’s Treaties with First Nations communities across the country.
Pitching can be a bit tough when you are still in the process of working through the project/gaming concept but I think Jennifer and I did quite well considering we had little time to prepare before the pitch.
I was, however, reminded once again that pitching is indeed an artform. All of the pitches had excellent ideas and information but from the participant feedback it’s obvious that every pitch needs some work (maybe with the exception of one, it was very good). It will be interesting to see how the pitches improve between now and the final pitch presentation on Sunday.
